New Day, New Year

It feels kind of weird to be writing this date but the truth is we are in 2016…

I know I am maybe a little behind of schedule on all of this… but due to the fact that I didn't have it preprogramed to launch at exactly 12:00 it didn't happen…

So this is happening after the fact on New Year’s day Morning… As in early morning... Ok, Don’t say it…

Go to Bed…

Truth is… I am wide awake… likely due to the coffee which was consumed... so I shall type…

There is much that could be said in a New Year's Post... We could start with the all famous New Year's Resolutions... or we could have testimonies of what God has done in our lives within the past year... or we could write out our prayers of asking God's Blessing in this New Year... All would be great ideas...

I have had the privilege of starting a brand-new devotional book given to me by my parents as a Christmas gift. I got started on it right away and the timing of this new year and that whole topic so far all ties together...

And so I have started this journey. I don't know where it is going to end up and many different puzzles fit into it... many bunny trails could and likely will be taken but we will let God direct his perfect will.

A quote from the book that has gotten me started on this journey was...

"I am convinced that when the last chapter of each life story is recorded in the annals of heaven, people would rather have lived out their fullness of days with purpose rather than painlessness!" -Beth Moore

You see, you can go through life and live it without ever putting any thought into what tomorrow or the next day could hold. You could disregard God's calling on your life and instead find yourself doing nothing to profit you or anyone else around you for the future here and now, or your eternal future.

What is your purpose in life?

Does your purpose in life require courage to live it out?

Are you scared of where it may take you?

Do you know what God expects of you?

Is not God's Greatest Commandment to love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might?

How are you doing on that journey?

What are you doing to spread the Word of God and the Gospel Message?

Your choices have an impact on what is to come, for the good or the bad, what are you doing with those choices?

Are you scared of where God may take you, if you decide to give Him everything you have? Yeah, its scary going out on a limb, especially when it feels like it is only 1" in diameter and the limb has been dead for a few years?

Pray... If there was something I want to put on my New Year's Resolution list that would be #1. With everything that is going on around us, we need to pray. We need to desperately pray for those who have no hope because that has to devastating. We could quite quickly grow that pray list. It wouldn't take long.

Ask God to direct you in the future, allow Him to direct your paths.

Ask God for Wisdom, because you and I need it desperately.

Above all else live your life with a God honouring purpose. As I was explaining to my Sunday school class last Sunday when we talked about Satan testing us and the race in life we are all running.

In 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 it says, "Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. and everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore I run thus: Not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection..."

I also told them about our great cloud of witnesses... the angles... who although we can't see them they are cheering us on in the side lines.
Hebrews 12:1– “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”

And so my encouragement is to you in the new day, and the new year....

Treat life as a race, where we are all running. Don't run as if to beat the air, but with a purpose in mind. Ask God to direct your ways, and I promise if you will allow Him, He will!

God Bless and Good Night,
